By the way...........
.....BUCK DHARMA RULES!!!!
In case you didn't already figure it out, one of my all-time favorite bands is Blue Oyster Cult or BOC.
There are several references to their lyrics on this page. Even the title of this
blog is the title of one of their songs.
I would not be surprised to find that a number of you only know them by the songs,
"Don't Fear The Reaper" or "Burnin' For You", or, if you're hardcore ;^), you may
even know the song "Godzilla"!!
Well, there's a lot more music by BOC than just those three songs. A lot of it, in
my opinion, is much better. I've been a fan and followed the band since about 1973
or so. Their first three albums have some of their best material. They were ahead of their time, no doubt.
If you ever get the chance, listen to these albums:
The songs to listen to in particular are:
Transmaniacom MC
I'm On The Lamb But I Ain't No Sheep
Then Came The Last Days Of May
Before The Kiss, A Redcap
Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll
Next is:
The songs to check here are:
The Red & The Black
Hot Rails To Hell
7 Screamin' Dizz-Busters
(Note: The "Red & The Black" on this album is a slightly re-vamped version of "I'm On
The Lamb...". It is also the inspiration for the title of this blog and past
web pages and message boards of mine. It is not related to my screen name-
that's a whole other story in itself!!)
Another great album is:
Here are the tunes to check on this one:
Actually, they are all good. You can skip "Cagey Cretins" and
"Harvester of Eyes". They just don't quite make it for some
reason.
However, my favorite, and way ahead of it's time, is, "Dominance
And Submission".
Well, that's your music appreciation for today. Now:
GO FORTH AND ROCK!!!!!
Hangin' ten.............
....been out and about, surfin' blogs.
I must say, there is quite a variety out there. Everything from stuff that I can't read cuz it's in a language I don't know, to stuff by teens, to the political left and right.
I must say that the most interesting to me are the ones by angry liberals.
I just cannot relate(entirely) to that anger. I guess when I was 20-something, I was an angry young man. Angry at everything. Governments, rich people, stupid people, corporate America, you name it. It is only now, in hindsight, that I can see how foolish I was and how misinformed I was, simply because I believed what I saw and heard on the evening news and from so-called friends, from whom I would not ask the time of day- today. I was big on conspiracy theory and any other kind of revolution against "The Man".
So, anyway, I can relate to some of the angry liberals in that respect.
But, it all goes back to caring and knowing(education). It is so easy to just be angry all the time. You can say you care and that you are compassionate, and sometimes it is true, but the anger I'm talking about is the kind where no other viewpoints or possibilities are even considered.
It is possible to disagree and get along and to respect others viewpoints without berating them.
I think in many cases these people just refuse to believe that any other point of view is possible.
The really paradoxal thing is how great that is.
This country allows people to be in complete opposition and disagreement with their fellow citizens and not be arrested for it(usually).
I challenge my fellow Americans, who are so opposed to their current government, to go to almost any other country on the planet and criticise their government the same you do your own and see how long it is before you are thrown on prison.
I really get hot about other countries telling us how it is in our country, when they don't know any more about it than I know about rocket science. Not only that, but few of them, if any, really have any room to talk, considering the shape of their own country. For that matter, I get pretty peeved about our own media lying about what is going on just because they don't agree with the government. Truth is far more important than your opinion. An opinion is like an asshole- everybody has one.
It all comes down to this:
Even though I respect the right of anyone in America to express their point of view, I'm getting tired of the liberals that simply cannot accept the fact that they and/or their party is/are not in charge any more. You need to realise that the direction of this country has changed for the time being and whether it's right or wrong, that is the way it's going to be.
I could easily argue the other side as far as how long the left and the Democrat party had control of this country, yet they rarely ever do anything they say they will do. That goes for all politicians from time to time, but universal health care in this country has been an issue for decades and the people complaining about it were the ones in control, yet they never pursued it once they were re-elected.
They only want the issue- they don't want a solution.
I think my side is more willing to pursue an actual solution for the problems affecting this country today. However, I am not totally committed to the party line.
I wish we could have politics without all the politics.
I'm sure I could go on, but I think I've said enough for now.
I need to try out some lighter subject matter- to loosen up a bit.
I'm really a nice guy, sometimes I just have to get things off my chest.
I promise I'll change my focus for awhile.
Thank you- Come Again,
Red
"These gravely digs of mine must surely prove a sight....And don't forget my dog- Fixed And Consequent."
Welly, welly, welly..........
.....welly, well.
I am so out of it today. My brain is mush. I can't seem to put two thoughts in a straight line.
I wish I had something to put up here to help you expand your horizons, but I've nada. My boy has been sick and is very demanding as to just about everything. First, he wants a drink of water. Then he doesn't. Then it's not in the right place on the table or it's in the wrong glass, etc., etc. By the way, he is only 3, but man, he can be demanding.
I would like to say that I enjoyed the way Condie Rice shut down ol' Babs the Boxer today at Rice's confirmation doo-hickey.
This is what I'm saying when I say that people are getting tired of the same old rhetoric out of the same old pundits and has- beens. It's over. We've had enough of the stretching and bending of the truth and the flatout denial of facts that has been growing like a virus for so long. It's about time the hacks were put in their place and shown the door.
Well, I guess I had a little bit of venom left!!!
Hey, Anon, please don't asociate this with that "statement and underlying attitude" thing. It's just a bit of this ol' hack's rhetoric.
Doc said everything's A-OK, so, back to work tomorrow!
See ya Friday or Saturday,
Red
Preparing to move ahead..........
Gonna come up with some new wild and wacky topics to put up here, but the cold weather has caused a temporary brain freeze. Hopefully I can get it thawed out before I go back to work, because after I go back to work my posts will be fewer and farther between.
Guess I'll have to see what groovy topics are floating in the ether on the XM.
In the meantime, entertain yourself here:
Hey!! Government and Muslims of Indonesia.......
.......Here's one from a stingy, selfish American.
Gee, where the hell were you when we had people suffering from loss in the hurricanes in Florida? Where are you now with the people who are suffering losses in California? Matter of fact where are any of you people when this country has a natural disaster?
WHO'S STINGY AND SELFISH NOW?!?!?!?
Education- or- Edga-mah-kation...............
.........This I believe, is the key to everything.
It's kinda like the old cliche, "Ignorance of the law is no excuse".
People that use the phrase, "Gee, I didn't know", really get on my nerves. Why didn't they know? Did they just plow right into something without knowing anything about it? How smart is that? Playing dumb is about the dumbest thing you can do.
If you don't know- ask. Why risk it? Don't get me wrong- I'm not saying you shouldn't take risks. Where would we be if no one ever took a risk? All I'm saying is gather as much information as you can before you dive in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now all this may or may not sound all well and fine to you, and, in many cases it's really all you need.
My point, however, is deeper than that(duh!).
True education begins at home, with the parents.
Yeah, I know, you can say how preposterous(sp?) that sounds, but it is true. Everything starts with the first few years of your life.
You can say,"How do we change all the kids who don't have the education you're talking about", and I will say that we may not be able to, but it is up to us, the educators, so to speak, to see that we do the best we can to instill solid values into these youngsters. If this was to happen and people actually had the cajones to keep with it, I believe that it would become the way of life with all of the so-called "un-educated" eventually being phased out.
I know how unbelievable this all sounds, but I guess it's my dream of how it should be.
I think the main cause of this is that people just don't care and I don't know why, except that it is easier to not care and we've been led to believe that easier is better. In some things easier is better, but not when it comes to the well-being of others.
Caring is probably one of the hardest things you will ever do, but it is also probably one of the most rewarding.
Let me end this rambling by re-asserting that education is the answer to anything and everything that happens.
Know your enviroment. Look around- be alert to what is going on aorund you. Quit talking on your cell phone while you're driving. Know your parameters when you drive.
Remember the Golden Rule: Do Unto Others As They Do Unto You.
Oh yeah, use your brain for Christsakes!
Think, think, think.
When I find a better way to illustate this point, I will post here.
Catching on...............
......now I'm starting to get it. Blogs are what I suspected them to be- glorified message boards.
I've perused a few of the blogs here on Blogger.com and the conclusion I've reached is that these are mostly fancy message boards and that I should have been smart enough 2 or 3 years ago to copyright the idea when I was doing almost the exact same thing with message boards. Oh well.
I'll have to expand on this later as I have other things to do.
